| This register lists John's parents as Thomas & Elizabeth, but there is no other indication that such a couple existed. The baptism falls in a natural gap in the baptisms of John & Elizabeth's children, and the will of John (the putative father) is indexed as being of "John Munday, sen." suggesting a son of the same name. Also in 1851, John (the son) is living with Grace Munday, described as his sister, who was definitely John & Elizabeth's daughter. | Munday, John (I3387)
| This surname may well be a mistranscription in the HGS marriage CDROM. | Veeke, William (I1546)
| Thomas appears in Jersey at about the same time as Jean (b abt 1788) and Nicolas (b abt 1792). They may be three brothers. | Fallaize, Thomas (I1059)
| Thomas could be part of this family or part of the other Thomas and Sarah's family in Exbury, but they already had a son, Thomas, and there is no sign that he died young. | Smith, Thomas (I3459)
| Thomas had probably been married before. On the 1841 census he is living with a woman named Elizabeth, aged 50–54, who was not born on Guernsey. | Gosselin, Thomas W (I5771)
| Thomas leaves 40/- to his brother Edmund; 20/- to Johane Lovell, the daughter of his brother William; 20/- to John Wiman; 20/- to his brother William; 20/- to his sister Elisabethe Neweman; 20/- to his brother Richard Lovell; 20/- to Chrystofor Newman, the son of Robart Neweman; 20/- to Jayes Lovell, the daughter of his brother John; 20/- to John Lovell, the son of his brother Richard; 20/- to Thomas Lovell, the son of his brother William; 20/- to John Fierson's eldest son; 5/- to William Gye's wife; 10/- to William Coffyn; his apparel to his brother Richard's two youngest sons; residue to his brother William whom he makes his executor. | Lovell, Thomas (I3905)
| Thomas was born three years before James and Mary Ann married. Possibly he is a child from a previous marriage of one of the parents, or an illegitimate child of Mary's. | Robey, Thomas (I3983)
| Thomas was left £6 p.a. in his father's will. He otherwise vanishes from the record. | Rogers, Thomas (I4558)
| Thomas Willis and William Wyatt Willis were twins. | Willis, Thomas (I1783)
| Thomas Willis and William Wyatt Willis were twins. | Willis, William Wyatt (I1784)
| Thomas's baptism is recorded on the last page of the old free-form register, and again on the first page of the new printed register. The former gives his date of birth. | Fry, Thomas Trim (I3561)
| Thomas's parents are given as Tho & Sabina in the WFHS transcript, however he fits naturally into the sequence of children of John & Sabina, and there is no indication that there is more than one Harding family in West Dean at this time; even if there were, it's unlikely two of them had a mother named Sabina. Possibly the entry really says Jno, short for John, rather than Tho. | Harding, Thomas (I3015)
| Transcribed as FALLAIER by FreeBMD. | Fallaize, Louisa Maud (I1129)

| Two alternative baptisms at Eling, 20 Apr 1542 and 12 Oct 1545, neither identifying he parents. One is probably Henry and Edith's daughter. | Lovell, Margaret (I3886)
| At least one living or private individual is linked to this note - Details withheld. | Private (I137)

| Very crude estimate. All we know is that she was born before 1578. | Lovell, Jayes (I3915)
| Very likely this is the same John Whitfield who was baptised in 1817, son of William and Charlotte. However there is a second, rather younger John, baptised in 1828, son of George and Elizabeth, and buried in 1853. Although this would make him rather younger than Matilda, Matilda's husband is known to have died between 1852 and 1861, and there seems no other plausible burial. | Whitfield, John (I1730)
| Very likely, Mary had been married before she married John Harding, and Peckham was her married name. Possibly she was the Mary Mashman who married John Peckham in 1762 in Beaulieu, but this makes her young when she first married, and there are various other possible marriages in the New Forest. | Peckham, Mary (I3025)
| Virtually nothing is known about François. There appears to be no baptism, marriage or burial for him anywhere on Jersey. He does not appear on the 1815 muster role, nor is he on the 1841 census. The 1809 baptism for his daughter Françoise does not say he's dead, though I suspect he had died as I think Jean Melet remarried in 1800. It seems most likely he was born in France, probably in Normandy or Brittany where the surname Gosselin is fairly common, and arrived in Grouville in the early 1790s, maybe fleeing the French Revolution. Pierre Gosselin, who had settled in Grouville from France by 1805, could be a younger brother of François. Other immigrants to Jersey with related surnames are: Paul Gosselin (b 1800, France), Louis Nicolas Désiré Gosselin (b 1809, La Manche), John Joslin (b 1810, Devon), James Jocelyn (b 1811, Hampshire), Caroline Joslin (b 1818, England), Auguste Jean François Gosselin (b 1818, La Manche), Ann Jocelyn (b 1826, Hampshire), Eugène Pierre Gosselin (b 1840, La Manche), Auguste Gosselin (b 1850, La Manche), Angelina Josselin (b 1877, Côtes d'Armor), Charles Henry Joslin (b 1879, Hampshire) and Pierre Marie Jean Baptiste Gosselin (b 1885, Côtes d'Armor). | Joslin, François (I1176)
| Walter is not mentioned his brother John's will, so was probably dead by 1685. This is the only plausible burial. | Lovell, Walter (I2734)
| When I consulted the original Fawley baptism register, I recorded the private baptism of a Sarah daughter of William Banks on 15 Dec 1759. This is not in the HGS transcript, nor in the IGI. I suspect I made a mistake transcribing it; if not, she's not a sibling of this Sarah as Clemence had née Cabel died two years previously, and William had not yet married Sarah Hunt. If she existed, probably she was the daughter of William and Jane. | Banks, Sarah (I984)
| widow | Strugnell, Mary (I4691)
| widow | Mummily, Edborrow (I4712)
| widow | White, Mary (I4735)

| wife of Simon senior | Elizabeth (I3827)
| wife of Thomas | Jones, Ann (I5319)
| William and Charles both appear their father's will, placed in sequence between Sarah and Jane, who were baptised in 1792 and 1801, respectively. The list in the will is nearly in chronological order (only Jane and David are reversed), so it seems reasonable to suppose that William and Charles were born during this period. | Banks, William (I903)
| William and Charles both appear their father's will, placed in sequence between Sarah and Jane, who were baptised in 1792 and 1801, respectively. The list in the will is nearly in chronological order (only Jane and David are reversed), so it seems reasonable to suppose that William and Charles were born during this period. | Banks, Charles (I902)
| William and Martha's marriage certificate identifies William's father as another William, but the evidence for his parents being William and Sarah née Powell is circumstantial. William was born in about 1819 and lived in Chilton as an adult. William and Sarah were having children in Chilton at this time and there is a gap between Louisa (b 1817) and Letitia (1823) that William would naturally fit in. There seems to be no other nearby William having children at the time. | Hatto, William (I494)
| William Barfoot emigrated to Argentina in 1889 on the ship "London". | Barfoot, William (I5635)
