Notes - According to a note in the Priaulx Library's file of internal research into the Fallaize family, this Nicolas was bp 14 Mar 1790 in St Martin's, Guernsey, the son of William Fallaize of St Martin, Guernsey and Anne Roissier of St Helier. William and Anne did have a son of that name, baptised on that date in St Helier. However the Nicolas who married Sarah Robertson was from St Pierre du Bois. The 1841 census shows two boys, John and Peter, living with Nicolas and Sarah. John matches the baptism of Nicolas and Barbara's son. Barbara died five years before Nicolas married Sarah, so it's plausible it is the same man marrying twice. Moreover, Nicholas and Barbara's daughter Fanny had Fanny Joslin as her godmother. If Nicolas was the child of Pierre and Marie née Jehan from St Pierre du Bois, Fanny Joslin would have been his sister-in-law. This all suggests Nicolas was from St Pierre du Bois and married twice. However, the fact that there was a second Nicolas Fallaize on Jersey, and we cannot otherwise account for him – there is no burial or other marriage, for instance – is a complication.
