| Louisa's baptism does not seem to appear at St Helier, but her parentage is confirmed by the 1851 and '61 censuses which lists Eleanor as the mother-in-law of Thomas John Fallaize. | Tramp, Louisa (I1103)
| Maiden surname inferred from Lydia being described as the daughter of Elizabeth Wright on the 1891 census. It's possible Elizabeth had remarried. | Wright, Lydia (I1087)
| Many online genealogies make Edmond Bull the son of William, either by his known wife Margaret Lyne or by an unidentified earlier wife. None of these genealogies offer any evidence to support this, and only cite other equally ill-sourced online genealogies. | Bull, William (I2699)
| Many online genealogies make Edmond the son of William Bull, either by his known wife Margaret Lyne or by an unidentified earlier wife. None of these genealogies offer any evidence to support this, and only cite other equally ill-sourced online genealogies. Attempts to contact the authors of these genealogies have been unenlightening. However it's entirely possible the original tree did have a good source – maybe a Lyne family will, for example – and this has been lost by subsequent copying. Edmond's first recorded child was baptised in 1595, and William and Margaret married in 1577, just 18 year's earlier. It is just possible that Edmond was the first child of this marriage, thought it would make him unusually young when he married; it is also possible William had been married before his marriage to Margaret and Edmond was the child of the earlier marriage, but I can find no evidence of an earlier marriage. | Bull, Edmond (I2703)
| Margaret was a widow, with surname Conditt | Family F1003
| Margarettea filia Johannis | Barnes, Margaret (I3225)
| Marginal note in register: "Elizabeth Marie Syvret est fille de George Syvret marié le même jour". | Family F422
| Maria filia Joh[ann]is | Barnes, Mary (I3235)
| Maria was a widow. | Family F554
| At least one living or private individual is linked to this note - Details withheld. | Family F511
| Marriage annulled by papal mandate on grounds of minority and lack of consent | Family F1200
| Marriage inferred from Elizabeth's brother's will. | Family F1027
| Marriage licence bond granted 21 Dec 1682 for marriage at Pitton; William was a widowed tailor from Pitton; Mary was a 25-year-old spinster from St Thomas, Salisbury. The marriage register says William was from Pitton too. | Family F838
| Marriage licence says Israel was a yeoman, and both were of Hound. | Family F971
| Martha was only 15 when she married, and evidently about 7 months pregnant with Joseph. | Family F180
| Martha witnessed the marriage of her brother, John Harding West, and was on the 1841 census in Poole with her parents, thus confirming she is part of this family. | West, Martha (I3062)
| Martha's mother is listed in the register as Elizabeth, not Sarah. Similarly, her likely brother John's mother is listed as Mary. I think these are most likely a clerical errors, as there's no evidence of a second adult Charles Bull in the Boldre area at this time, and Charles's will implies he had more than four children in 1775. Without including John and Martha, exactly four are known. | Bull, Martha (I5476)
| Mary Carter of Pitton in the parish register; Mary Williams daughter of William in the bishop's transcripts. | Williams, Mary (I3044)
| Mary does not appear in her father's will, so had presumably died before 1831. There are two possible burials in Fawley: 30 Jun 1798 and 13 Jan 1799. | Banks, Mary (I895)
| Mary is left 1/– in her father's 1785 will. This is probably a token bequest and she'd already been given her share of her inheritance. There are several words after her name that probably identify a husband, but unfortunately a defect on the reproduction I have has are rendered them illegible. They should be clear on the original. Most likely it says "the wife of Thomas Rogers", as the only plausible marriage is one on 3 Feb 1766 at Holy Rood, Southampton. | Banks, Mary (I980)
| Mary is the granddaughter of Charles Bull, however I've not yet entered the the later generations of the Bull family on this site. | Bull, Mary (I2886)
| Mary may be the daughter of David who was baptised on 9 Nov 1725 in Dibden. The register is badly damaged and the child's name is illegible. | Wyatt, Mary (I3612)
| Mary may be the widow of William Hayden. A William and Mary Hayden had a daughter, Ann, baptised on 11 May 1777 at High Easter. They had married at High Easter on 14 Nov 1763, both of that parish. Her maiden name was Smith. A William was then buried 9 Sep 1783. We don't know exactly when James was born. The baptism was 1 May 1785, and his age of 76 on the 1861 census is consistent with that, but he could have been nearly a year older. If so, he could be a posthumous son of William and Mary, which would explain why "base born" is struck out in the register. | Family F1406
| Mary Thomas alias Goffe. | Bull, Mary (I2886)
| Mary was said to be a "spinster of this parish" in her 1779 marriage at Whiteparish. Her husband John was born in 1744, which was quite old for a first marriage; Mary may have been a similar age, but could have been significantly younger. If she was born in Whiteparish, rather than having moved there, the only possibility is a baptism on 16 Mar 1747/48, son of John. However Mary White is a common name and there are lots of other possibilities in south-east Wiltshire in the late 1740s and 1750s. | White, Mary (I3009)
| Mary's surname in the marriage register (as transcribed by the HGS) is Well, but that surname does not seem to exist in Hampshire. More likely the surname is Wells or perhaps Willis. There's a Wells family in Boldre, Beaulieu and Fawley at the right time, but with no daughter called Mary. Willis was a fairly common name in Fawley, and a Mary Willis was baptised there on 27 Feb 1734/5, the daughter of John Willis. Maybe this is her. | Well, Mary (I3164)
| Mentioned but not bequeathed anything in his father's will dated 1916. Possibly he had died by then? | Neale, Arnold George (I1024)
