Notes - William's name is only known from his son John's marriage certificate, which says William was a weaver. There is no evidence that William moved to Jersey with John; probably he had died. John was brought up in Jersey by Ellen Cronin, widow of Patrick Cronin. Unless Ellen married two different men named Cronin, she cannot have been John's mother. Quite likely Patrick and William were brothers, and John had been orphaned and was brought up by an aunt
